Arenas/Crittenton Feud Caught on Tape?

by Charlie on January 8, 2010

One of the most difficult facets of the Gilbert Arenas story is the nagging feeling that we still don’t know exactly what happened in the Wizards’ locker room on Christmas Eve. The New York Post made it sound like a Clint Eastwood movie. Arenas’ account was far more innocent — a bad joke, gone awry. The Washington Post’s account makes Javaris Crittenton sound like the real villain.

Fortunately, it sounds like the uncertainty may soon be resolved: TMZ.com is reporting that the entire incident may have been captured by Verizon Center security cameras.

TMZ also reports that the Wizards have been “over cooperative” with the investigation — as if they want Arenas to be charged. That makes some sense, as a felony conviction would likely enable the team to void the remainder of Arenas’ contract, which runs through the 2013-14 season and tops out at over $22 million a year.
