The Pistons finally ended their eight-game losing streak on Friday with a 95-85 win over Orlando.
It probably isn’t a coincidence that Allen Iverson didn’t play.
With AI (back) out of the mix, the Pistons moved Rip Hamilton back into the starting lineup – reuniting three-fifths of the championship starting five, with Hamilton alongside Tayshaun Prince and Rasheed Wallace. It sounds as if they’ll keep things that way for a while. Iverson isn’t expected to play until the current road trip is over, and when he does, it’s expected he’ll serve as sixth man.
Don’t be surprised if Iverson puts up very good numbers in that role initially. His current target to return is Tuesday’s home game against Denver. Think AI wants to play his best against the Nuggets? Then, the Pistons have a date with those well-known purveyors of defense-free basketball, the Golden State Warriors.
If you’re an Iverson owner, you might want to think about making some trade offers just as that Thursday night game ends.
