Fantasy Basketball SOS: March 9-15 – Fantasy – Yahoo Sports

by Charlie on March 8, 2009

Every fantasy owner knows to expect big numbers against New York and Golden State – teams that play a fast pace and don’t concern themselves much with defense. In the last few weeks, a few other teams are playing defense in the Knick/Warrior style … which is to say, not at all.

Expect big numbers when your best players face …

Toronto – the trade of Jermaine O’Neal and Jamario Moon locks the Raptors into a starting frontcourt of Shawn Marion, Andrea Bargnani, and “the RuPaul of Big Men,” Chris Bosh. Since the trade, opposition big men have been eating the Raptors for lunch – from Shaquille O’Neal who gave Bosh that … “colorful” nickname to Al Horford to Carl Landry and Brandon Bass.

Phoenix – fantasy owners are thrilled with the “seven seconds or Shaq” offense the Suns are playing under new coach. Problem is, they’ve also gone back to the same disinterested defense that led Steve Kerr to abandon Mike D’Antoni’s system in the first place.

Dallas – this week, the Mavs gave up 96 points to an Oklahoma City team playing without Kevin Durant or Jeff Green.
