Tracy McGrady is out of the West’s starting lineup in the NBA’s second All-Star voting tally, but another — equally undeserving — veteran has moved into the East’s top five. As of Christmas Eve, the top two guards in the Eastern Conference all-star voting were Dwyane Wade and Allen Iverson.
The same Allen Iverson who had played exactly five games in a Philly uniform at that point.
Iverson — who appears on the official all-star ballot in the Western Conference because he started the season as a Memphis Grizzly — had 635,084 votes in the second returns, putting him 80,305 votes ahead of Orlando’s Vince Carter. Dwyane Wade leads all Eastern Conference guards with over 1.3 million votes.
McGrady — who was in the starting lineup as of the first vote tally — has fallen behind Steve Nash in the Western Conference voting.
