Knicks Host Pre-Draft Double-Feature

by Charlie on June 23, 2010

The Knicks will host two groups of aspiring NBA players for workouts on Wednesday – just one day before the NBA Draft.

Group 1

Eric Boateng (Center, Arizona State)
Boateng must have shown something during his June 4 workout to merit a curtain-call; the lightly-regarded center prospect is likely hoping to earn a summer-league invite.

Devin Ebanks (Forward, West Virginia)
Opinions are mixed on Ebanks’ NBA prospects – he didn’t really light it up for West Virginia, but the Mountaineers’ play at a snail’s pace; Ebanks’ game may be better suited to the pros. One thing most observers agree on: he’ll be a capable NBA defender. MSG.com’s Jon Rothstein compares Ebanks to Derrick McKey, the defensive stalwart who was so important to the great Reggie Miller Pacer teams of the ‘90s.

Charles Garcia (Forward, Seattle)
Garcia put up really impressive numbers for Seattle at times. At other times he was pulled from the lineup due to lack of effort – which is a major red flag for any player. He has the size (6-10, 232) and skill to impress in this format – but he’ll have to be really impressive to overcome his less-than-stellar track record.
