Mayor, Governor Confident Hornets will Stay in New Orleans

Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal and New Orleans mayor Mitch Landrieu are expressing confidence that the Hornets will stay in town.

The NBA took ownership of the team from George Shinn, after a long-delayed sale to minority owner Gary Chouest fell through, and will manage the sale of the team. Chouest may be a part of a new local ownership group, which could be led by attorney Morris Bart. It’s not clear why Chouest opted not to buy the team from Shinn, but it has been suggested that he was hesitant to commit to running the franchise, particularly with a potential lockout looming after this season.
