The Knicks picked up two more victories over the weekend, running their streak to seven straight and clinching their first winning season since 2000-01.
Amar’e Stoudemire missed both games due to the ankle injury he suffered in the closing minutes of Wednesday’s win over the Sixers – but Carmelo Anthony stepped up to fill the void. Melo torched the Nets’ skeleton-crew rotation for 25 points and 14 rebounds on Friday, then sealed Sunday’s win over the Pacers by sinking the go-ahead jumper with under five seconds remaining, then blocking Danny Granger’s shot attempt on the ensuing possession.
If the NBA gave “player of the weekend” awards, Melo would win in a walk.
