President Obama’s presence doesn’t unnerve all basketball teams, apparently.
The commander-in-chief and Vice President Biden took in the Duke/Georgetown game at the Verizon Center on Saturday. The Hoyas put on quite a show, hitting 33-of-46 attempts from the field — a staggering 71.7 field goal percentage — and beat seventh-ranked Duke 89-77.
It was Georgetown’s best shooting performance since the Regan administration. The first Regan administration.
On the strength of that win, Georgetown moved up to the seven spot in the AP poll released today. The Hoyas are one of four Big East teams in the top seven — Villanova (2), Syracuse (3) and West Virginia (6) are the others.
Career Planning?
President Obama got behind the mic and tried his hand at a little play-by-play during the game. I guess he enjoyed himself — he told CBS’ Clark Kellogg he was planning to take over the gig full-time… but not for “three or seven years.“
