Robinson Wins Third Dunk Title

by Charlie on February 16, 2010

Nate Robinson won his third slam dunk title — and second in a row — last night, beating Toronto’s DeMar DeRozan in the final round.

Generally, the contest lacked any true “highlight reel” moments. The one truly special dunk was DeRozan’s second attempt of the first round; DeRozan rebounded a ball thrown off the side of the backboard by teammate Sonny Weems and threw down, generating a standing ovation from the judges and a perfect score of 50 points.

Robinson disappointed the crowd by bringing out several Dallas Cowboys cheerleaders before his first dunk of the final round, but opted not to integrate them in his dunk in any way. But he still captured 51 percent of the fan vote — just enough to win his third dunk championship.
