After last week’s trade-deadline tango, the biggest potential spenders in this summer’s free agent lottery have emerged.
The Knicks finally lead the league in something: cap space. After dealing Jared Jeffries and Jordan Hill, New York has more cap room than anyone this summer. Unfortunately, they also have a 2010 roster that currently features Danilo Gallinari, Wilson Chandler, Toney Douglas, Eddy Curry… and a whole lot of nothing. Will Donnie Walsh be able to convince LeBron James or Dwyane Wade to join a team that will be wafer-thin? Or will the free-agent superstars choose to join teams like Chicago, Sacramento, or even the Clippers or Nets — squads that have some pretty impressive talent to build around?
