The third-seeded New Mexico Lobos shook off a slow start and an injury to swingman Darrington Hobson to beat Montana 62-57.
The heavily-favored Lobos trailed by one at the half, but went on a 17-0 run in the second to pull away before the Grizzlies closed the gap.
Hobson landed on his wrist early in the game and suffered what’s being called a sprain. He played through the injury on Thursday, but had X-rays on the injury and his status for the Lobos’ second-round matchup with Washington is unclear.
