The NBA staged five games on national television on Christmas Day, as part of the league’s annual holiday showcase. But Orlando coach Stan Van Gundy would much prefer to have the day off.
Orlando’s coach told reporters:
I would rather not play on Christmas. This is a day to spend with your family. The league has been good to all of us in terms of what we get (big money) out of these TV games, so it would sound a little disingenuous to complain too much. But if I had my way, we’d take a five-day Christmas break.
As someone who spent the day with the six-and-under set, trying desperately to figure out why changing Optimus Prime from truck to robot is so much more difficult than it was when I was a kid… well, I feel his pain.
