For the first time in over 30 years, the Atlantic Coast Conference is offering tickets to the ACC Tournament for sale to the general public.
The move is being portrayed as a sign of the tough economic climate, and that’s certainly one factor. But a change in venue makes a significant difference. The ACC Tournament is usually played at the cozy Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, North Carolina — with a seating capacity of 23,000.
The Georgia Dome’s capacity was more than twice that — 53,000 seats — when it served as host to the 2007 Final Four.
