USA Tops Russia, Advances to FIBA Semifinal

As predicted, Russia’s size advantage gave Team USA trouble… for a while. Team Russia played the US to a tie in the first quarter, and actually built up a 35-30 lead five minutes into the second. But Kevin Durant and company came to life after a timeout, ending the half on a 14-4 run and never looked back, winning by a final of 89-79. Durant paced Team USA with a 33-point outburst. Chauncey Billups had 15 points and five assists and Russell Westbrook — a key to that second-quarter run — had 12 points with three steals.
